About

Ken Montenegro supports social movements using his skills as both a technologist and lawyer.

He has been practicing technology with nonprofits for over 20 years. Those years encompass research, planning, implementation, and evaluation of technology solutions. Ken has performed this work as both a staff member and consultant. Ken has a law degree. He provides a unique insight that attempts to help organizations have meaningful conversations about the nexus of ethical, statutory, and practical data use and retention.

Ken is co-chair of Mayfirst Movement Technology; and is current Legal Worker Vice-President and former Vice-President of the National Lawyers Guild. He is also a co-founder of the Stop LAPD Spying Coalition and the Radical Connections Network of movement technologists. He is a former board member of the Immigrant Defenders Law Center and NTEN.

Current services are focused on delivering limited facilitation, training, strategy, and planning services to nonprofits. Due to capacity, we must limit our engagements. If you’d like to talk, please contact Ken: he’d love to hear about what you’re working on and hopefully collaborate. Ken also enjoys reading and listening to music.

He is bilingual in English and Spanish and of Ecuadorian and Guatemalan descent.
